My Triton 1500 no longer works as a Touch Screen unit. It apparently works OK otherwise.

I had been running OZICE from the SD card when all of a sudden I realized that the Touch Screen mode was not working, OZICE requires the Touch Screen. Without the Touch Screen I was unable to turn off the unit under OZICE. So I removed the batteries.

When I got home, I changed the SD card to one that would not start OZICE . Everything seemed to work except the Touch Screen.

Anyone have any ideas how to get the Touch Screen back again?

All help is appreciated.

Check the hold button on the side of the unit.

I can move the HOLD button up and down with no effect on the Touch Screen. If HOLD is ON (down) or HOLD is OFF (up), TOUCH SCREEN does not work.

Try to reinstall last firmware - should help if it's a software problem ...
But if it's a hardware problem you should return it to Magellan ( if it's still under warranty ).

Physically I don't know how the TOUCH SCREEN works.

However I noticed that there was a small (pinhead size) salmon colored physical dot on the lower right hand side of my 1500 but nothing like it on my 500. That pinhead dot is no longer there on the 1500! Somehow it must have fallen off.

Could this dot have something to do with the Touch Screen operation?

Meanwhile, I will do a firmware update and see what happens.

Well, I installed the latest firmware with no change, still no Touch Screen.

I called Magellan and am sending them the unit and they will send me a refurbished one.

Make sure there is nothing wedged between the unit and the screen. I had a pine needle that slid in between the frame and the touchscreen and it made the touch screen not function until I was able to get a pair of tweezers and remove it from there. Could be a piece of dirt or something that got wedged and is preventing the screen from recognizing the input.
